Solved

I purchased a home. It was a complicated process. To make a long story short, I hired a Real Estate Attorney who is also a Broker. Is the fee I paid a deductible item?

Unfortunately no.

The basic rule is that you can deduct attorney's fees you pay to: (1) produce or collect taxable income, or, (2) help you determine, collect, or obtain a refund of any tax.
