Question

I just had a baby in February so the dependant is not on 2020s tax returns. How do I get the new child tax credit that was just passed for $3600?

I was told with the new bill, those under $75000 would get $250 a month till the end of the year and then claim the rest on your 2021 taxes.

like the rest of us, you'll have to wait until guidance is issued.

We are not sure how this will be implemented as the IRS has not published guidance yet.

The language in the law says an online portal will be established to update things like the birth of a child during the year that would affect the advance payment of the child tax credit.
