If you are each below 55, TurboTax will calculate the annual limit for the two of you together to be $6,900. Add $1,000 for each of you who are 55+ AND who have an HSA (since you both can have HSAs).

Note that this is the limit for Family HDHP coverage and it applies to the aggregate of all HSA contributions for one or both HSAs. Thus, you cannot contribute the Self-only max of $3,450 while your spouse contributes the Family max of $6,900 - $6,900 is the limit for both of you together.

If you were married prior to October, then you would be required (by the IRS) to state that you had Family HDHP coverage even if you had Self-only coverage. This is done to ensure that the annual contribution limit is properly calculated.

But even if you weren't yet married and you had Self-only and she had Family, the limit would be the same: $6.900.
