How do I apply a 2018 foreign tax credit to my 2017 tax return?
I had no income tax due and could not apply the credit in 2018. I paid enough tax in 2017 to cover the credit.
You will have to amend your 2017 tax return to carry back the credit. Please see this FAQ on how to amend a prior year return:
