EV charger Credit

I installed an EV charger at my home. Do I claim it for tax deduction/credit on the day/year it was installed (2023) or on the day/year it was purchased (2022) . I see the credit should be on the total fee of purchase and installation. I have installed it myself, do I get credit for that?

Thanks!

You claim it for the day it was installed and ready for use.

Yes, you can still claim the credit even though you installed it yourself.  However, you do not get to add any type of labor.  You can only include the amount you actually paid for the charger.
