Do I need to claim owning a home if I'm on the mortgage and title but am NOT the one paying the mortgage and property taxes?

I was added to the mortgage and title of my mom's home this year - the home was purchased by her in 1998 - but do not pay anything towards the house. Do I still need to say I "purchased a home" on my taxes?

No, if you did not pay the mortgage and property tax then you cannot claim them on your tax return. Therefore, you can no to the "purchased a home" question.

If your mom put you on the house, you need to get a written appraisal signed by a professional appraiser.
