Can you deduct for mileage to chiropractic treatment

I drove over 1,000 miles in 2017 for chiropractic and acupuncture. Can I deduct milage for this kinds of treatments?

Yes. You can deduct your medical mileage for chiropractic treatment or any medical treatment including miles to pick up prescriptions. The standard mileage rate for medical travel is 17 cents per mile for 2017.

Medical expenses are only deductible if you itemize deductions and are only deductible in the year paid. Also only the portion of your total medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your AGI are deductible.

I'm planning on purchasing a 2023 Corvette Stingray this year. I did not know and apparently my accountant does not either if any portion of the monthly payment is tax deductible. The care truly would be used for both recreation and for work. Too and from work every day is about 60 miles. I would also use the car to get to some (not many) patient homes to work with them. would all 100% be deductible, 50% or none I guess is what my question boils down to.

Also as a work car as well would maintenance such as oil change, changing transmission fluid, tires and other be tax decuctible @95079 @kellyphanco

@chriswhite712 Are you a W-2 employee? If so, then nothing related to your car is deductible on your federal tax return:

W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.

"Too and from work every day is about 60 miles. " Miles driven to and from work are commuting miles, which are never deductible. Sorry.

If you are an independent contract who will be entering self-employment income then you may be able to enter certain car-related expenses on your Schedule C.
