Can I select itemize for my Arizona tax form filing (gets a refund) if Turbotax keeps standard deduction for my Federal Form (lower federal tax)?

Since the tax laws are not complete I can't tell whether adding mortgage interest deduction (at least 10K)  and property tax deduction (4K) will switch me from a Federal standard deduction to an itemized deduction.  But as of now Federal is a standard deduction in my Turbotax 2018 calculations.   However, I know from past years filing that I will get a refund from Arizona if I Itemize their form.  I don't want to fail to receive credit for charitable contributions AND pay a higher tax too, which would happen if Federal and AZ State have to be filed in the same manner (standard).

No...you can itemize AZ even if Fed is STD Ded.

Just enter ALL your possible itemized deductions in the Federal section.

....That is the primary place to enter them, and they will transfer to the AZ tax return...if itemized ends up being better on the AZ forms.  There are some special AZ donation Credits that probably have to be answered during the AZ interview...but you'll deal with those later in the AZ interview...if applicable to you.   (QCOs and QCFOs)
