I work remotely in Wisconsin but I travel monthly to my home base in New Jersey. My employer does not pay for the travel. Is there a way to deduct this from my taxes?

-W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return.  Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond.  Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.

If you are preparing a return for a state that lets you deduct job-related expenses, the information will flow from your federal return  to the state return, so enter it in Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Job-Related Expenses

No, work related expenses are not deductible if you are a W2 employee.  For 2025, most W-2 employees cannot deduct unreimbursed travel expenses on their federal tax returns. Some state allow a state income tax deduction, but Wisconsin does not, so you are not able to deduct the expenses.  See Are Unreimbursed Employee Expenses Deductible? - TurboTax for more information.
