Can I deduct the cost of tickets to a benefit concert for the Redford Theatre in Detroit, Michigan ?

It depends.

In general, you cannot deduct this cost as a charitable contribution because you have received services or goods in return for your contribution.

If your contribution is in excess of the fair market value (FMV) of the tickets, then you can deduct the excess as a charitable contribution if the Redford Theatre is a qualified charitable institution.
