Can I claim a professional suit (the purchase of the suit and dry-cleaning the suit) as a job-related expense, if used for interviewing for a new job?

I am a resident and was interviewing for a fellowship position which requires applicants to wear business suits.

Unfortunately no, the IRS has really tough regulations on deducting clothing on your taxes. Since you can wear this suit for other personal functions and is considered suitable for everyday wear, the IRS will not allow this as a deduction.
