Why am I not getting the $2,000 tax credit for graduate school? I am enrolled full time at a university for a graduate degree.

Are you a dependent?

The grad school credit (Lifetime Learning Credit) is non-refundable. It can only be used to reduce an actual tax liability.

Grad students are no eligible for the American Opportunity credit with it's (up to) $1000 refundable part.
