Start by going to the Education section of your return using these steps:
Then, if you are not prompted to enter your 1098-T, go through the entire education expenses section of your return until you reach the screen titled “Your Education Expenses Summary”, then follow these steps:
I don't see the "jump to..." link that you reference. I'm using the cd/download version on a Mac. How can I edit the tuition expense amount? I have exactly this same problem, with the program telling me that I've already entered what is set at $0 and not editable. Thanks.
These instructions are not working. It will not allow me to edit the tuition amount. I am using the downloaded version.
For those of you having this issue, I was able to enter the tuition amount after I deleted the existing student data that was transferred from last years return and started over. I had to re-enter all of the school information, etc. but it did prompt me to enter the information for the 1098-T.
Thanks, this sounds promising--but how did you delete the existing student data? From the initial dialog box, I selected "no" to the question of whether I had 1098 data, thinking that would delete what was there, but that didn't work. Follow the instructions below and go through the screens until you get to Education Expenses Summary page. Here you will have the option to either Edit or Delete a student that is already in the tax return. The Delete option will remove the student and information associated with them.
Then you can Add a Student to start from scratch.
To get started, go to the Education section of your return using these steps:
I tried this but don't get the "jump to education" link. What I finally ended up doing was to select View/Go To Forms and then going directly to the Form 1098T, and entering information there. Now the tuition information shows up on the EasyStep page.
