What do I do if I don't remember what I paid for education expenses, specifically books? I graduated so I can't go back and look.

You will claim what you can substantiate with receipts or credit card statements.

If you don't know what it is, you can't claim it. Make an efforts to find out. The price of a text books is an easy thing to look up.
