We use the "Ohio Autism Scholarship" to cover most of our son's tuition to a specialized all-autism school. Can we also claim the nonchartered tuition credit?

Q. Can we also claim the nonchartered tuition credit?

A. No. "To qualify, you must pay tuition for your compulsory aged dependent(s) to an eligible nonchartered, nonpublic school (K-12) that has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education. For a list of approved
schools, see tax.ohio.gov/credits." Reference:

The credit is based on the tuition paid by the taxpayer/parent. If a scholarship covers only part of the tuition, the taxpayer can claim a credit for the remaining tuition they personally paid out-of-pocket, up to the maximum allowable credit amount ($1,000–$1,500)
