Hi there! I paid a portion of my daughter's college tuition last year. Can I claim the amount as a deduction?

My daughter is an adult. I do not claim her on my taxes.

Unfortunately, in order to claim the tuition you paid for your daughter, you must also claim her as a dependent on your income tax return. If she is not your dependent you cannot claim the expense.
