Under state Student Loan Information, I need to enter Total Qualified Student Loans, it only allows me to enter $5000, my daughter's amount is way more. Why is this?

Under state Student Loan Information, I need to enter Total Qualified Student Loans, it only allows me to enter $5000, my daughter's amount is way more. Why is this?
It depends. For instance, if this is a MN state return, then the maximum amount of the student loan credit is $500 or 10% of $5,000, therefore, the maximum loan amount that can be entered is $5,000.
