Turbotax H&B took the lifetime learning credit and we filed it. i reran the tuition max after filing, NOW its taking tuition and fees deduction = higher refund by $323.

why did the program not calculate this right the first time, it took the credit the first time now the tuition and fees is better -  now i have to file an amended return to get this money? is there some guarantee or penalty from Intuit due to the screwup by the program????

In all probability this likely is not a program malfunction.  The tuition and fees deduction was only recently reinstated by Congress in February and only very recently has the IRS been able to re-implement it in their forms.  Because of this, TurboTax was not able to calculate the Tuition and Fees Deduction originally.  This FAQ discusses the Act, which reinstituted the deduction:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/6585982
