How do you file 1098-T form

To enter information reported to you on form 1098-T:

1. In your return, click on Federal Taxes > Deductions. 
2. In the Education section, click Start/Revisit next to Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T).  [See Screenshot #1, below.]

If you haven't entered education expense information yet:

1. You will see a screen Do you want to enter your higher education expenses? click the Yes box.
2. On the screen, Tell Us Which Person Was a Student in 2016, select the correct person from the list.  (Screeenshot #2)
3. Continue through the screens, entering the requested information
4. On the screen, Did [your name] get a 1098-T from [school name] for 2016?, mark the Yes circle and click Continue. (Screenshot #3)
5. On the next screen type in the info from your 1098-T.
6. Continue through the rest of the screens, entering the requested information.  TurboTax will calculate whether a credit or deduction will give you the most benefit.

If you have already added some education information:

1. You will see a screen Your Education Expenses Summary. (Screenshot #4)
2. Click on Edit to review/revise the information you've entered.
3. On the next screen, Here's Your Education Summary, click on the Edit box next to the item you wish to access.
