Since I previously did 5yrs of college but was 3 credits shy of graduating, when asked if I've earned four years college credit do I choose yes?

If you have never received an undergraduate degree, then you have not completed 4 academic years of college. However, you can only get the American Opportunity Credit for 4 tax years regardless of how many calendar or college years it takes you to get a degree.
