Scholarship income exceeds tuition paid on 1098-T. I know I can report some income on child, but how do I override the result on the parent’s return?

When scholarship income exceeds tuition paid and other educational expenses, there is no credit available in this situation and no need to enter the form on the parents return.
You need to just delete the 1098-T from your return and report the 1098-T and other expenses on your child's return.
To delete the 1098-T from your return you can either go to the summary screen and click delete next to the 1098-T or you can click on forms in the upper right-hand corner, then click on the 1098-T on the left-hand side then delete in the bottom left corner.
