Don't go by that "refund meter" at the top of the page. Sometimes it's not accurate until additional info is entered. Wait til you get to the end, to see if you agree with the final result. Then all your info will have been input to analyze the result.
The Tuition and fees deduction is calculated on form 8917 and will show on line 21 of Schedule 1 and be transferred to line 10a of form 1040.
We cannot see your tax return. Only the American Opportunity Credit has a refundable amount. The other education credits are not refundable---they reduce the tax you owe. They do not add on to your refund. What education credit did you use?
If you mean you qualified for a $2000 tuition CREDIT (not deduction): the $2000 amount indicates it's probably the Lifetime learning credit (LLC) which is not refundable. That is, if your tax liability has already been reduce to zero, you will see no more refund.
The LLC is calculated on form 8863 and will show on line 3 of Schedule 3 and be transferred to line 20 of form 1040.
