529 Distribution over $10,000 for Private High School Tuition

For 2019, we took a disbursement greater than $10,000 from my daughters's 529 to pay a portion of her private high school tuition.  I received a 1099-Q in her name.

How do report this on our Federal and California state returns.

Thank you in advance.

You can enter the 1099-Q into your TurboTax program so that it can do the math.

Since the 1099-Q is in the name of the student, the taxable portion will be claimed on the student's return.

Your TurboTax program should tell you what the student needs to claim.
