You can make the changes as long as you didn't file your return. If you already filed your return, you need to amend to make the changes. 

To change Form 1098, Mortgage Interest Statement:

1. Login to your account.
2. Select Federal from the left menu.
3. Go to Deductions and Credits.
4. Select  Mortgage Interest, Refinancing and Insurance under Your Home and click Update/Edit
5. On the 1098 summary select edit next to the lender 

Interest on home equity loans and lines of credit are deductible only if the borrowed funds are used to buy, build, or substantially improve the taxpayer’s home that secures the loan. irs.gov
