My kids 1098-t forms have nothing listed in box 1 but I paid their tuition. When I leave it blank it bring back $0.00

For tax year 2016 the IRS requires the school report box 1 "Amount paid" or box 2 "Amount billed".

Please enter the 1098-T into the TurboTax program the way the school reported it, but under box 2 click the link that asks "What if this is not what I paid to the school?" and enter the payments made in 2016. This includes scholarships, grants, gifts, loans, and cash.

(Please see screen shot below)

Keep a copy of the student's school account statement and other receipts, as well as the 1098-T with your tax file.
