Your wife is allowed to deduct home mortgage interest, even if the 1098 is not in her name, if she meets the following conditions (she is required to report the information from the Form 1098 on her tax return):
· She files form 1040 and itemizes her deductions
· The mortgage is a secured debt on a qualified home in which she has an ownership interest
· The home is her primary or secondary residence
