I'm currently filing my taxes as I did an extension and for some reason I'm not getting the lifetime learning credit, but I'm getting the full amount for the American opportunity credit. My income was much lower then the 90,000 and I currently still owe 3000 in taxes. Can someone help or should I pay to talk to the live expert?

You cannot get both education credits on the same tax return. You can get one or the other.
AMERICAN OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT
AOC will be shown on line 29 of your Form 1040

LIFETIME LEARNING CREDIT
Since the American opportunity credit (AOC) is more generous than the lifetime learning credit (LLC), TurboTax (TT) will automatically select the AOC, unless you don't qualify. You can't get both for the same student.
Uf you want to change it to the LLC, type letme (no space between let & me) in the search box. Then press enter. Then click on the link "jump to letme''.
TT will give you the option to select the other tuition credit.
