If scholarship received in 2018 is for 2019 school year, is it taxable in 2018?

Funds received in 2018 are designated to cover 2019 tuition. Is this to be included in 2018 tax return or 2019?

Yes,you do report it as it appears on your 1098-T for 2018. You will be asked later in the interview if any of the Scholarship funds were not designated for 2018 use
