As long as you did not file it on your tax return for 2016. That should be fine.

I'm not sure if I did. I am going based off my 1098-T form which I also used last year. However, it does not say I paid anything even tho I did pay the other half of tuition late january of 2016.

I would go and talk to your college and get fixed. That sounds more like your college messed up.
