If I claim my college student as a dependant and form 1098T has a higher amount in box 5 who claims this parent or child?

And if adding into the education part of the taxes does it catch the overage automatically or do I still put in under income?

If the student is your dependent and you claim that student only you can claim the education credit.  The student reports the income (scholarship minus tuition) on their own return if they have a requirement to file.
