If I am independent can my parents still claim my tuition?

I did not pay my tuition but it is in my name. So will I have to claim it, or can they claim it even if I claim to be independent?

In order for your parents to claim the tuition expenses, they would need to file you as a dependent. Since you're filing a tax return on your own, you'll need to claim the expenses. Please view the Turbo Tax blog page below, for more information.
