Yes, you can. You can deduct the mileage to your public school (round trip) as charitable mileage in the Deductions & Credits section:

Federal Taxes
Deductions & Credits
Charitable Donations, select Donations to Charity in 2016; once school's name is entered, select Mileage and travel expenses.
