I pay tuition for my son but in 2018 his dad will claim him as a dependent. Can i write off any of the 34K I paid?
I paid 34K in tuition for my son's school. His dad pays the other half. His dad is claiming him as his dependent in 2019. Can I write off any of the 34K I paid in 2018?

If your son's father is claiming your son for tax year 2018, only the father can claim education credits, no matter who paid for the tuition.
Unfortunately, you cannot claim any education credits your son.
