I paid tuition in January 2017 for a 2017 spring semester. I went to get my 1098-T and they made a form for the 2016 taxes instead. I hadn't claim it on 2016 taxes because I honestly assumed I would be doing this for 2017 and didn't look up the 1098T last year.
How can I claim this tuition payment on the 2017 taxes? The 2017 1098-T doesn't even have an amount in box 1 ("Payments received for
qualified tuition and related
expenses")

If you pay the tuition anytime in 2017, you can still claim on your 2017 tax return. The amount you pay does not have to match up with the information reported on the Form 1098-T.
