I paid for part of my daughters tuition and her grandparents paid the rest. How do I claim the part I paid for? I have her 1098-T but I didn't pay for all the tuition

If she is your dependent only you can claim the education credit. Claim all the expenses since it doesn’t matter who actually paid them.

@Bsch4477 -  what expenses were you referring to when you stated claim "ALL" expenses

aren't all the claimable expenses already in Box 1 of the 1098-T? regardless of who paid (parents or grandparents) isn't that all in Box 1? is that what you were referring to? 

isn't the credit based on the difference of Box 1 and Box 5? were you suggesting otherwise?
