I never received a 1098-T via USPS, but I was able to find it online.I received grants & my employer provided tuition assistance. I paid very little if anything for schooling. Do I still need to complete the 1098-T since I didn't personally pay for schooling? I don't want to report something and get a tax credit when I wasn't the one that paid for schooling. So I guess my main question is: Do I have to report the 1098-T if I didn't pay for the schooling?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
if your grant or scholarship exceeded the tuition, you will not get a credit, you may owe tax.
you may still get deductions for books and equipment.
