If you earned over $4200 in 2019, your parents cannot claim you and you should answer No.  There is no such requirement that your parents claim you because of student loans.  Since you are 28, you parents can only claim you if all of the following are true:

  • You are a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.
  • You aren’t filing a joint return with your spouse.
  • You lived with them for the entire year.
  • You made less than $4,200 in 2019.
  • They provided more than half of your financial support.

If they are qualified to claim you, then you would answer Yes when you get to the question ''Someone else can claim me as a dependent on their tax return''.  If you need to update this information, click on My Info on the left side menu and click Edit on the line with your name, SSN, birth date, and occupation.   Scroll down to Question #3 and update your answer.
