In any scenario, you are in a bit of a holding pattern. I recommend you compare the changes once you receive the corrected 1098-T from your school.
Then, once you receive, if you determine there is no difference in the amount of tuition/scholarships and the numbers on the tax forms would be the same, you don't need to do anything.
If the change shows you took too much Credit then you can amend at that time using Form 1040X in TurboTax. TurboTax will not even support the 1040X until February 12, 2020; however, even if you receive the updated 1098-T tomorrow and decide to amend, I recommend you wait at least six weeks before filing an amended return Form 1040X to ensure your original return is fully processed.
Thank you so much for the help. As you can probably guess, I'm newer to this so I appreciate your response. I may come back with more questions once I get the revised (if it was even revised) 1098-T.
I just received the same e-mail from my school about my 1098-T form possibly having adjustments!! And I already filed last week. I'm in the same stage (accepted), and was freaking out. So I'm glad someone else had the same question!
