Sorry to have to tell you this, but if you are listed as a dependent on your parents' return you can not claim the American Opportunity or Lifetime Learning credits. I've put a link to the IRS publication that explains this below. Your parents could file an Amended Return themselves to either claim the credit for themselves or take you off as a dependent.

You cannot get the education credits when you file as a dependent. Your parents get them.
