How do I get the student interest credit on to the 1040 first page and compute the proper tax

schedule 1 computed the line 22 transferred but not line 36

What is the amount on line 20 of Schedule 1? Is that amount added to line 22? On the 1040 on line 8b, is that number equal to line 7b on the 1040 less line 22 on Schedule 1?

If the above is true, then you are getting the Student loan interest deduction, even though it is not obvious.
