How can I claim my 1098t box 1 when my income is not going to reflect the amount? I worked part-time and my parents loaned me money for tuition?

My parents do not claim me.

Sorry if you do not provide over half your own support from earned income and you are at least a half time student and under 24, the rules are your parents can claim you. If your parents can claim you, you can not claim yourself regardless if they choose not to.

I am not a TT employee.

Here is an IRS calculator on if you can claim yourself:

https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/whom-may-i-claim-as-a-dependent  If it is that you are a qualifying child of your parents, you can not claim yourself.  Normally the 1098-T will benefit your parents.

THE AOTC only the person who can claim the student as a dependent can take, regardless of who paid the bills but it does have income limitations:

I hope this was helpful?
