For tuition paid; I am still making past due payments monthly so would I put down the total I owe or would I write down how much I have already paid off?

If you are in the Education section, you should enter the amount in Box 1 of your Form 1098-T for tuition paid.    For tax year 2022, the amount that should be reported for tuition in Box 1 is the total payments paid to an eligible educational institution in 2022 (from any source) for qualified tuition and related expenses less any reimbursements or refunds you received during 2022 that relate to those payments made during 2022.

Your 2022 payments for prior years (2021 or earlier)  tuition  do not count for a tuition credit on your 2022 tax return.  Payments must be for 2022 (or first term 2023) expenses to count for a 2022 tuition credit.
