Education Assistance counting as income

My daughter received a scholarship of approximately $22,000 to help pay for her $36,000 tuition. Why is Turbotax saying that tuition assistance counts as income?

Correct, that is not right. Please review your entries as $22k is less than $36k. The scholarship only paid part of the tuition. You may want to contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you.

go back and look at how you answered the questions about the student.  One of the questions has been answered incorrectly .  It's not taxable.
