Can we deduct tools and a tool box required for my sons mechanics class at Community College? Where do i enter it?

It depends.  If this equipment is required for his education, they will be included as expenses under the Education section.  This would be included with expenses such as books  and tuition and fees in order to determine the correct amount of expenses for his schooling.  Depending on the funds used to pay for the qualifying education expenses, you (if you are claiming your son as a dependent) or your son (if he is not your dependent), may claim the qualifying expenses for Education Credits.

For more information on how to enter these and other education expenses to determine which credits you or your son may qualify for, please see the following FAQ:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3300629
