Can I get a tax break on the money spent on parking garages for work?

I pay $8 to park in a parking garage for work. Is there a way to get a tax credit for that?

If you are an employee who receives a W-2 then none of your employee business expenses are deductible on a federal tax return due to the tax code changes in effect for tax years 2018 thru 2025.

Even without the tax law change, parking was never deductible, it is part of your commute and is not deductible.

However, your employer may be able to provide you some tax free commuting assistance if they set it up as a fringe benefit for all employees.  The rules have changed and I don't know the exact rules in place today without looking them up, but you might ask them about it.  (For example, one option might be for the employer to buy monthly parking passes and then give them to employees or sell them to you at a discount.  For certain dollar amounts, the value of the parking pass can be considered a tax-free employee benefit instead of including it as part of your taxable income.)
