Can I deduct interest paid on my student loan paid by my parents in 2018 when I file in 2019 since didn't have income in 2018?

Parents can't claim interest since they are not co-sgners on my loan. Just got a job and will file 2019 return next year.

The student loan interest can only be claimed in 2018 since that is the year is was paid in.
