If the education you paid for is not for a Dependent on your return, sorry, you can't deduct the education expense on your tax return. However, you can claim an adult child on your return if they meet the qualifications.

If your son files his own return, though, he can claim the Education Expenses, even though he did not pay them himself (can be paid by grants, scholarships, loans, etc.)
