Probably not. Please look to see if the form you received was a 1098T instead. If so, please look at the tuition, box 1 or 2 and the scholarships, box 5. If the numbers are the same, then your school paying the tuition is correctly reflected and you don't need to do anything.
I think you meant 1098-T, rather than 1040. No, you do not need to file that. The 1098-T is only any informational document. The numbers on it are not required to be entered onto your tax return. From what you describe, you do not need to file it, even if there is a difference between boxes 1 & 5.
