A grandparent is paying for my daughter's college tuition. I have made deposits & book purchases. 1098 shows total paid to school. What can I deduct?

Only the person who claims your daughter on their taxes can claim the 1098, regardless of the source of payment.  Therefore, if you claim your daughter, you would claim all the amount of the1098, if your daughter files as an independent taxpayer, she claims all the amount of the 1098.
