The only way that you would be eligible to claim an education tax benefit on the tuition expenses for the courses that you took from January 2016 to May 2016 is if you paid the tuition for these courses in 2016.
If your 2015 1098T form has box 7 checked, then it is likely that you paid this tuition expense in 2015. If you paid it in 2015, then you would have claimed this expense on your 2015 tax return.
If you have additional education expenses for 2016 that you paid in 2016, such as textbooks, etc, you might be able to claim an education benefit on the 2016 tax return based on these expenses.
